Hugo Chavez has reportedly returned to Venezuela after receiving medical treatment in Cuba.
State television showed the president arriving at an airbase near Caracas and being greeted by government ministers.
Chavez has been in Cuba for the last month, recuperating after having had emergency surgery for a cancerous growth.
Footage released at the weekend showed him looking thin but animated during a family visit.
It has raised questions about his prospects of re-election as Venezuelan president in 2012.
Officials in Venezuela say Chavez is well on the way to full recovery – a claim endorsed by former Cuban leader, Fidel Castro.
