Protests in the city of Hama in Syria have cost the governor his job. President al-Assad has sacked
Ahmad Khaled Abdel Aziz a day after tens of thousands poured on to the streets, reportedly the biggest demonstration in over three months.
State television announced the decision on Saturday which follows the sacking of the governors of Deera and Homs. The moves did not stop the momentum of the protests.
The protests in Hama, took place as human rights groups reported that at least 24 people had been killed by security forces throughout the country.
Hama was the scene of a bloody crackdown by President al-Assad’s father nearly thirty years ago.
