Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi is threatening to take the fighting to Europe. Though he has not actually been seen, a voice recording of Gaddafi was played to a large rally of his supporters in Tripoli by state television. Gaddafi is vowing to take revenge for the months of NATO bombings. In the message he claims his troops are able to cross the Mediterranean and they would strike at European targets including homes, unless NATO stop.
As the conflict intensifies near Tripoli, thousands of its residents are fleeing into the nearby town of Rujban. It has become the rebel focal point closest to the capital since the recent defection of another of Gaddafi’s colonels, who is now commanding opposition fighters.
At a weapons store in Rujban, the rebels showed off arms they claim to have seized from government forces which bear stamps from Qatar and Pakistan.
