Critics say Dutch ban is not kosher

The Dutch parliament’s lower house has taken the first step towards making the Netherlands the fifth european country to ban the ritual slaughter of meat. Critics say the vote flouted the EU’s Human Rights Convention. Jews and Muslims consume Kosher, or Halal meat. The law’s promoters say it defends animal rights and has nothing to do with religion.
