Germany’s Sebastian Vettel claimed his sixth win of the season after leading from start to finish at the European Grand Prix in Valencia on Sunday.

The world champion went on an early charge that saw him establish a three-second lead within a few laps.

The 24-year-old kept his composure to hold on to his lead and complete the race 10.8 seconds ahead of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, who finished second for Ferrari in front of his home crowd.

Vettel’s Red Bull team mate, Australia’s Mark Webber, produced a solid display but eventually had to settle for third place after finishing 27.2 seconds behind the leader.

Vettel is now 77 points clear of McLaren’s Jenson Button and team mate Webber in the championship standings.

Red Bull lead the charge in the constructors table on 295 points, 89 clear of McLaren. Ferrari are currently lying in third place.
