Polish diplomat and academic Jan Kulakowski dies in Warsaw

Jan Kulakowski, the first negotiator involved in Poland’s EU membership and the country’s ambassador at the European Union, has died at the age of 81.

He spent many years in Belgium from where he supported the country’s anti-Communist movement.

During his life he received many international accolades.
