Syrian troops and armoured vehicles at Syria’s border with Turkey have worsened tensions between Damascus and Ankara.

Refugees say the Syrian forces have come within 500 metres of the border, near Khirbat al-Joz.

Wednesday was the 100th day of a people’s uprising in Syria.

Secret police and soldiers have been setting up check points along the border road which usually sees heavy container traffic.

Opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s rule say army snipers are also deployed in the area where thousands of Syrian refugees have been flooding into neighbouring Turkey.
