Saramago’s ashes scattered in Lisbon

On the first anniversary of the death of the great Portuguese writer José Saramago the 1998 Nobel literature prizewinner’s ashes have been scattered at the foot of a 100 year-old olive tree. The tree was brought from his home village, and will now grow in a square in the capital, Lisbon.
