Greece’s Prime Minister George Papandreou has announced his cabinet reshuffle with all eyes on who would take up the post of Finance Minister.
Evangelos Venizelos, once Papandreou’s biggest rival has been handed the post. He had been in charge of defence. He has also been appointed the new Deputy Prime Minister.
As expected George Papaconstantinou has relinquished his post at finance and will move to take up the environment brief.
They are the first changes in the reshuffle as the government grapples with political wrangling, and public unrest over proposed austerity measures aimed at dealing with the country’s 340 billion euros debt.
