With just over two weeks to go, Monaco is gearing up for the wedding of Prince Albert II and Charlene Wittstock.
The ceremony will take place over the weekend of July the 1st and 2nd. The couple first met in 2000 when Miss Wittstock was a professional swimmer – they were engaged last year. The couple are planning a sumptuous party for their nuptials, including concerts, fireworks and a a cocktail party at the palace for Monaco’s 7000 nationals. Euronews headed to the palace to meet Prince Albert and Charlene Wittstock. They said the organising was proving stressful – but everything was going according to plan.
“It is a big preparation and it is a lot of work and has been a lot of work and a lot of sometimes slightly difficult moments. I think we are well over those and everything is going smoothly and very well and in a good atmosphere.” said HSH Prince Albert.
“I think I have a little bit of experience (with protocol) since I have been here four years, I have obviously been on a couple of state trips with the prince and attended many functions so I am pretty schooled up now.” said Miss Wittstock.
Half a million visitors are expected in Monaco on the wedding weekend.
