The world’s largest art fair has opened in Switzerland featuring work by more than 2,500 artists.

Art Basel specialises in pieces from the 20th and 21st centuries.

One section is reserved solely for large installation works.

Annette Schönholzer, one of the co-directors, explained: “Art Unlimited represents great sculptures and important names. And we can also see that younger galleries are more adventurous with younger artists, for example in the Art Statements section. Therefore we can say that the art market has made a comeback on every level.”

The exhibition runs until Sunday and is expected to be visited by around 60,000 people.
