Royal couple make first official outing

A relaxed and smiling Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have appeared at their first official engagement as a married couple.

Prince William and Kate chatted to guests at a star-studded gala dinner, to raise funds for the children’s charity Ark, in association with the foundation created by the heir to the throne and his brother Harry.

“With your help Ark and the Foundation are committed to a four-year programme. It will generate opportunities in education for young poeple in the United Kingdom and then later expand beyond our shores, initially to projects in sub-Saharan Africa,” said the Duke.

Guests such as Colin Firth and Anish Kapoor paid more than 11,000 euros to attend. The evening was expected to raise 16 million euros in all.
