Taxi project aims to cut violence in cabs

Working alone, sometimes late and night or early in the morning, ferrying around people who have had too much to drink; taxi drivers often find themselves in a vulnerable position.

A new scheme – the Safe Taxi System – has been set up in parts of Portugal to try to prevent violence in cabs, by linking vehicles with the local police.
