Wild elephants run amok in southern India

Two wild elephants ran amok in southern India on Wednesday, trampling one person to death.

The two elephants entered the city of Mysore early on Wednesday morning, leaving locals fleeing in terror.

They tore the city for nearly three hours, chasing buses, damaging parked motorcycles and attacking animals.

Footage broadcast on Indian television showed one of the elephants goring one man.

Forest rangers managed to capture both beasts using tranquiliser guns.

The animals were released back into the wild later in the day.
