Portugal’s new-look parliament

world news

| |

The composition of the new Portuguese parliament reveals a very different chamber from two years ago.

The centre-right PSD has nearly 39% of the vote, and will be the biggest party, but without an absolute majority.

The Socialists have crashed to under 30% of the vote, and lost a quarter of their seats.

The third-placed CDS has crept up to nearly 12%, making them a viable coalition partner, and providing a comfortable centre-right majority.
