An oil refinery explosion and fire in southwestern Wales has left four contractors dead and a worker seriously injured.
An investigation is underway to find out what led to the disaster on the evening of June 2. Maintenance work was reportedly being carried out at the plant.
Greg Hanggi, refinery general manager, said: “The loss of our co-workers has come as a huge shock to us all.
“Our thoughts and deepest sympathy go out to their families. We will ensure that all employees and contractors are fully supported throughout this difficult time.”
The US firm Chevron owns the Pembroke Refinery, which specialises in processing heavy, lower-quality crude oil. In March 2011, the company announced an agreement to sell the refinery.
