Around 10,000 Bosnian Serbs have rallied in a show of support for their wartime commander Ratko Mladic.
Hundreds of war veterans were among those who joined the march in the city of Banja Luka, reflecting the deep ethnic divide that still prevails in Bosnia.
“Ratko Mladic is or hero, my child died under his command and so be it,” said Mara Kolundzija, mother of a fallen soldier.
“Mladic is a symbol of freedom for me. Mladic is an invincible Serb hero. He is an immortal for the Serb Republic. We will not give up on him, long live Ratko Mladic,” added former Bosnian Serb solider, Batkovic Nenad.
The crowd also taunted Serbia’s President Boris Tadic. Many Serbs now see him as a traitor because he authorised the operation for Mladic’s arrest.
