Cuba’s President Raul Castro becomes an octogenarian this week like his older brother Fidel. He is already 84.

Although last April Raul launched a modernising package of reforms for the communist-run island, Cuba’s leadership remains a touch elderly. Raul has two deputies the same age as himself.
