Latvian president dissolves parliament

Latvia’s President Valdis Zatlers has dissolved parliament and called new elections after it blocked a corruption investigation into a top legislator.

In a TV address, Zatlers said lawmakers have shown contempt for the judiciary and were putting their own interests above those of the nation.
