Serbian radicals plan pro-Mladic protests

Belgrade is bracing itself for a protest against the arrest of Ratko Mladic and his planned extradition to face genocide charges in the Hague.

His lawyer and family have until Monday to launch an appeal against the judges decision to move him to The Netherlands.

Maldic’s legal team claim the man is too frail to stand trial after 15 years on the run.

His son Darko says his father is simply not mentally fit enough for the ordeal:

“We are convinced that he has certain medical difficulties concerning his ability to recognise his situation.”

The current Serbian government want Mladic out of the country and quick, while the former general remained at large the door to Serbia joining the EU was well and truly bolted.
