DNA evidence from the clothing of a hotel maid at the centre of rape allegations are said to match samples taken from Dominique Strauss-Kahn.
Lawyers representing the former IMF chief refused to comment. Other tests on items taken from the room where the alleged assault took place are still pending.
The former French finance minister was indicted last week on charges connected to an alleged sexual attack on a 32 year old woman in a New York hotel.
Strauss-Kahn vehemently denies the charges.
His wife, a wealthy former television journalist in France, has said she has been touched by the many messages of support received on her computer blog from the public.
