An earthquake in northwest Turkey has killed at least two people and injured nearly 100 more.
It was shortly before midnight when the 5.9 magnitude tremor struck the small town of Simav in Kutahya province. Buildings there were damaged and others shaken further north in Istanbul and across western Turkey.
One person reportedly died jumping from a window as the quake struck. Another suffered a heart attack.
Residents rushed out onto the streets and, amid a series of aftershocks, many spent the night outdoors.
Major geological faultlines cross Turkey and small earthquakes are a near daily occurrence.
