Ex-California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has put a return to Hollywood on hold following his admission that he fathered a child with his former housekeeper 13 years ago.

The Austrian-born action hero had said he would be back on the big screen later this year but his spokesman issued a statement on Thursday confirming that those plans have been called off.

Schwarzenegger has now separated from his wife Maria Schriver, a former TV journalist and the niece of President John F. Kennedy.

The 63-year-old retired from acting in 2003 to pursue a career in politics.

He is best known for his role in James Cameron’s 1984 epic, ‘The Terminator.’
