Germany to cut size of military

world news

Germany plans to slim down its armed forces in what is described as the most radical reform since the Bundeswehr was founded in the 1950s.

Under the government’s plan, personnel will be reduced by more than 15 percent to 185,000. A small permanent force of 10,000 soldiers will be created ready to undertake international missions.

Germany ended conscription in March.
