The crackdown in Syria appears to have taken a chilling turn after amateur video revealed what was reported to be a mass grave.

Residents recovered 13 bodies from a pit near the southern city of Deraa – four of them children.

It is not clear when they died but locals claim dozens were killed during the military’s recent assault on the city.

And the protests against President al-Assad’s regime are continuing. The biggest night time rally so far in a Damascus suburb brought thousands onto the streets.

At an unofficial crossing in northern Lebanon, families from the Syrian border village of Tel Kelakh are fleeing the violence.

Witnesses say ten people were killed on Sunday after Syrian forces entered the area over the weekend.
