The City of Arts and Sciences in the southern Spanish town of Valencia is a complex of modern buildings devoted to science and culture.

Parts of this futuristic complex are made of a surprising new material which considerably increases the concrete’s bending strength,

allowing architects to design more daring projects.

Ann Lambrechts, who came up with the process, is a candidate for the European Inventor Award 2011, organised by the European Commission and the European Patent Office.
