A day before the British Queen’s historic state visit to the Irish Republic, police in London say they received a coded bomb warning from Irish dissidents.

On April 29, the Mall was packed with crowds for the Royal Wedding. But on Monday it was closed as specially trained officers searched for explosives.

Roads around Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace and St James’s Park were sealed off and the drains searched.

But officials say the threat is not “specific to time or place.”

A suitcase left outside a hotel on Monday morning was destroyed by controlled explosion.
