The wife of Egypt’s ousted former president Suzanne Mubarak has been admitted to intensive care in a Cairo hospital after suffering a suspected heart attack.
She collapsed just hours after being taken into custody and being questioned as the enquiry into her personal fortune moved up a gear. She had been due to be transferred to a prison near the capital.
Mubarak himself has also been detained for the purposes of the probe into whether or not he had used his influence to amass wealth illegally. He has been staying at a hospital in Sharm el-Sheik after also falling ill while being questioned.
Earlier this month the Swiss foreign ministry said it has traced over 320 million euros in accounts linked to Mubarak.
