Preparations are well under way in the south of France for the 64th Cannes Film Festival.
And this year promises to be a more star-studded event compared to what was widely perceived as a lacklustre performance last year.
Expectations are high among the 4,000 strong press pack. Some have already bagged seats in the front row.
And they shouldn’t be disappointed. This year’s guest list is an impressive roll-call of major stars including Robert de Niro, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp. They will be joined on the red carpet by some renowned directors.
The festival opener is Woody Allen’s latest film “Midnight in Paris”. It features, among others, a cameo by French first lady Carla Bruni – who has cancelled a personal appearance at Cannes, fuelling speculation she is pregnant.
