Victims' families relieved at Osama death

Families of the victims of 9/11 have been celebrating the death of Osama bin Laden at the hands of American security forces.

Al and Maureen Santora lost their 23-year old son in the attack on the twin towers. He was a firefighter. Maureen said: “I was just overjoyed, I’ve been waiting for this day. I’ve been waiting for him to be found.”

“As we were watching TV this interruption came on the news. We just sat in our chairs. We were just speechless. We didn’t talk to each other. We just sat quietly and we listened. We’ve been married a while so we sense how the other person feels, but we’re both very, very elated. We were thrilled that the day had finally come that the organiser of al Qaeda, finally met his demise and was finally killed.”

“I like to think and I imagine that all the people that were murdered out of hatred on September 11th, are celebrating tonight that good outweighed evil and evil was given a very swift blow.”
