Tens of thousands of Yemenis came together in the capital Sanaa to demand the immediate removal of President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
The city’s main Siteen Street became to focus of the protest to mark a ‘Friday of Loyalty to the Martyrs’.
At least 142 people have been killed during three months of anti-Saleh demonstrations.
In another part of the capital pro-Saleh crowds staged a ‘Friday of Constitutional Legitimacy’.
The president addressed the rally and said Yemen says: “No to coups, no to chaos.”
Saleh is currently discussing a phased handover of power with Gulf mediators, whereby he steps down in return for immunity from prosecution.
Those opposed to his rule want to see Saleh in the dock.
