Prince William takes his new bride for a spin

After walking down the aisle and being whisked away in a horse drawn carriage what better way to impress your bride than with a spin in a classic Aston Martin.

Newly weds William and Kate delighted thousands of well-wishers who were still lining the Mall with an impromptu drive-by after their wedding reception.

The classic convertible – whose marque was made famous by the fictional British spy James Bond – also had an L plate on the front, a nod to the royal couple’s new status.

The vintage British sports car has been owned by Prince Charles since 1969. William’s environmentally conscious father reportedly had the engine converted to run on waste wine.

Watching the drive from above, were Prince William’s RAF colleagues in a Sea King helicopter.

There were loud cheers from onlooking crowds during the short trip as the newly weds drove down the Mall to Clarence House.
