Bells ring out for royal wedding

The big day is finally here! In just a few hours Kate Middleton and Prince William will wed in front of 2,000 guests at Westminster Abbey and around 2 billion TV viewers.

Last night, the Prince delighted those camped out near Buckingham Palace with an impromptu royal walkabout.

An estimated 600,000 people are expected to line the streets of the British capital for a chance to see the royal couple.

“It’s absolutely wonderful, it’s fundamentally English, British, or whatever, go out and enjoy yourselves.” said one onlooker.

A visitor from Luxembourg added: “Well I’m a royalist, so I like royal families very much. We have one in Luxembourg, as well as in Belgium, so I know it very much. And for me, it’s really exciting”

Our correspondent, Lise Pedersen, commented:

“Londoners and visitors alike have hit the streets of London to start celebrating. And there will be no alarm clocks this morning. Wedding day has been declared a national holiday.”
