Gaddafi forces intensify attacks near Tunisian border

Fighting between anti-Gaddafi factions and government forces has spilled over into Tunisia.

Rebels say they came under attack from Gaddafi’s troops and were overrun.

Pro-Gaddafi fighters shelled the Dehiba-Wazin border town and Tunisian frontier posts have been evacuated; there are unconfirmed reports that shells have landed on Tunisian soil.

Zintan also came under heavy rocket bombardment, the Russian made Grad missiles are a major threat to civilian areas due to their inaccuracy.

As many as 80 rained down on the town causing panic and chaos as people began to flee the fighting and head for Tunisia.

In the besieged rebel outpost of Misrata the government continued to subject the population to prolonged shelling.

The hospitals are working flat out and the attacks on the port have made bringing supplies in and the wounded out extremely risky.
