Hungarian President Pal Schmitt has signed a new constitution that opposition lawmakers complained amounts to a power grab by the ruling Fidesz party.

It states a number of policy areas will require a two-thirds parliamentary majority for new laws to be adopted.

The constitution set a debt ceiling and said the forint must remain as the country’s currency.
