Bomb blast at Russian “Big Brother” house

This is Russian TV’s equivalent of Big Brother. Dom-2, or House-2, was the scene of a bomb blast on Sunday, resulting in multiple injuries to a security guard who was patrolling the fence surrounding the property outside Moscow.

A 39-year-old Russian man has been arrested on suspicion of planting the bomb, as well as another one which was found and defused.

Police say the suspect had unsuccessfully applied to take part in the program on several occasions, but had failed to make it through the initial casting stage. He had reportedly made threats against the producers in the past.

A criminal investigation is now underway.

Dom-2 is a hugely popular program in Russia, in which participants compete to win a house.
