Belgians march against nuclear power

world news

Thousands of anti-nuclear activists have been demonstrating in Brussels, calling for a closure of Europe’s nuclear power stations.

A similar rally is due to be held in France today and they’ve been marching in Germany too. The message was clear: “Fukushima in Belgium, no thank you,” they chanted.

The demonstrations have been sparked by the nuclear breakdown in Japan caused by the earthquake and tsunami, and the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.
