An Israeli man has been killed and three others were wounded when shots were fired at their car in the occupied West Bank.
The Israeli military said the vehicle was one of several that had gone to the holy site of Joseph’s Tomb near the West Bank city of Nablus without permission.
Witnesses said Palestinian police officers opened fire on the vehicle. The Palestinian governor of Nablus said warning shots were fired first.
Ultra-Orthodox Jews frequently defy a military ban on visiting the shrine which is in Palestinian controlled territory.
The Israeli authorities said that pilgrims are given access to the site to pray every month in visits are that are coordinated with Palestinian security forces.
