In a bid to end once and for all the mystery surrounding his death Chile has decided to exhume the body of the former president Salvador Allende to find out if he was murdered or died by his own hand. He was toppled by a military coup in 1973 led by the dictator General Augusto Pinochet, and ever since his death has been officially recognised as a suicide.
