Police in Spain have uncovered 750 kilos of bomb-making equipment from alleged hideouts of the Basque separatist group ETA.
It brings the amount of explosives found this week to 1,600 kilos, the biggest cache of ETA explosive material ever found. Authorities arrested three suspected ETA members this week in a continued crackdown despite ETA’s unilateral ceasefire declared in January.
Last month French police arrested the alleged military chief of ETA, in charge of the cells that carry out bomb attacks.
Spain’s Socialist government says a ceasefire is not enough and, though weaker than ever, ETA still has the capacity to kill and injure.
