Ivorians took to the streets of Abidjan to celebrate the capture and arrest of ex-President Laurent Gbagbo.
Many had been afraid to leave their homes during 10 days of heavy fighting in country’s main city.
“Gbagbo is gone, Gbagbo is gone” echoed round the streets of Abidjan.
“It is truly an immense joy, truly immense, because its now 10 years we’ve been in this crisis and we haven’t moved forward, no development, but thank God and thanks to Alassane we can express our joy,” said one of Ouattara’s troops.
Despite the feeling of relief in the city Ouattara’s soldiers are warning people that Gbagbo’s armed militia are still on the streets.
