Turkish diplomacy over Libya

world news

| |

Turkey’s prime minister says Ankara is working on a road map to end the conflict in Libya.

It would include a ceasefire and the withdrawal of Gaddafi’s troops from some cities as well as the creation of humanitarian corridors.

It is not clear if both sides in Libya are discussing the plan.

Reports from our correspondent:

“An inclusive process for democratic change should be launched immediately, taking the legitimate interests of Libyan people into consideration,” said Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“The purpose of this process should be to secure a constitutional democracy in which people will choose their own leaders with their free will,” he added.

He said details would be made public before an international contact group meets in Doha next week.
