Police officer killed in car bomb attack

world news

| |

In Northern Ireland a policeman has been killed after a bomb exploded underneath his car in the town of Omagh in County Tyrone.

The 25 year old officer was called Ronan Kerr. He was a catholic which is the most likely reason he was targeted.

Omagh is the place where republican terrorists, opposed to any British presence in Ireland, killed 31 people in 1998 in another bomb attack.

It is most likely that the bombing was carried out by one of three republican groups who are opposed to the peace process in Northern Ireland.
