‘Burn Koran’ pastor reacts to UN killings

world news

| |

It was Florida preacher Terry Jones who raised the idea of burning the Koran. He called on people to set alight thousands of copies on September 11 last year.

The former hotel manager, who is often seen with a pistol within his reach, worked as a missionary in Europe for 30 years before taking over as head of the fundamentalist Dove World Outreach Center.

What he dubbed “International Burn a Koran day” never happened. It was last month that a Koran was set alight by a pastor called Wayne Sepp, with Terry Jones presiding over the burning.

He has reacted to the killings of the UN staff by saying he does not feel guilty. He claims the violence in Mazir-i-Shariff proves his point.
