Lyudmila Gurchenko, a popular Soviet-era actress, has died at the age of 75.
The Ukranian born performer found fame across the Soviet Union at the age of 21 for her role in “Carnival Night.”
Married five times, Gurchenko had an eclectic career performing in close to 100 films as well as in the theatre and on radio.
She also wrote four books.
She had been ill for a while and doctors believe her death was related to the hip surgery she underwent earlier this month.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said she was “truly a people’s actress.”
