Chris Burns hosts The Network, where a matrix of newsmakers get to the heart of an issue. And watch out – everyone has to answer in 25 seconds or less, or else! This week the programme looks at Berlusconi’s latest sex scandal and the resulting legal action.

Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has battled trial after trial on corruption charges related to his media and sports empire. The billionaire magnate has been accused of hijacking the judicial process by changing laws to get him off the hook, and yet the 74-year-old, nick-named the Teflon premier, who admits he is no saint, has been elected time after time.

This time, ‘Il Cavaliere’ faces trial on sex charges and abuse of power. The case has shaken his governing coalition and brought hundreds of thousands of protesters into the streets.

Chris Burns speaks to Monica Frassoni, who is co-president of the European Greens Party, and features on Foreign Policy magazine’s list of top global thinkers.

Also on the show is Charles Young, the author of ‘Impunity – Berlusconi’s Goals and Its Consequences.’

And they are joined by Giuseppe Cruciani, a journalist for Radio 24, who has reported extensively on Silvio Berlusconi.
