Green star protest by French Muslims

A former presidential aide has called on fellow Muslims in France to wear a green star to identify themselves.

The controversial move was deliberately reminiscent of the yellow stars forced on Jews by Nazis.

Its aim, said its organiser, was to protest against the stigmatisation of France’s Islamic population.
