The operators of the stricken Fukushima nuclear plant have been severely criticised by the Japanese government. Yesterday they mistakenly released data reporting a radiation spike 10 million times above normal.
However latest readings at the number two reactor have shown contamination levels 100,000 times normal levels which they say is due to steam turning to liquid.
Four of the plant’s six reactors are currently unstable with reactor number two yesterday having to be temporarily evacuated.
The nuclear crisis has made much of the Japanese public question the safety of nuclear energy and in a rare event thousands marched through the capital in protest.
