A suspected cop killer surrended to police on Saturday after holding eight people hostage in Athens, Georgia.
33-year-old Jamie Hood is accused of shooting dead a senior police officer, who was a married father of two.
He allegedly shot another officer in the face and chest and then fled the scene.
Having been on the run since Tuesday’s slaying, Hood took the eight people hostage late on Thursday in a standoff which lasted several hours.
Negotiators convinced him to give himself up just after 11 pm local time on Friday.
Hood spent 12 years in prison from 1997 after being convicted of armed robbery.
