London 2012 Olympic tickets on sale

Tickets for next year’s Olympic Games in London are on sale from today for six weeks.

Some 6.6 million tickets will be available, with price tags between £20 and £2,012. A clock was put in place in Trafalgar Square this week that will count down the 500 days until the sporting event begins.

Residents of the United Kingdom and 30 other European countries can apply for tickets on this website. Applications can be submitted until April 26. Other nationals can apply through their national Olympic committees. For eligibility criteria and contact details of national committees click here.

The organisers will not treat applicants on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. That means the six-week window will provide equal opportunity for all who want to see the games. When an event is oversubscribed, organisers said they will use a ballot to decide.
